Top 5 Projects:
1. Season 2 - My Fit
2. Snow Photo
3. Season 2 - All Natural
4. Stuck In Place
5. Season 2 - Depth the Field
I learned many skills when doing all my favorite projects, but my most liked project is "Season 2 - My Fit," where I was the model posing with three of my favorite outfits. I never had the chance to be able to be fluid in modeling because I am usually awkward. Another project I liked was "Season 2 - All Natural," where I had a photo shoot with my friend with a flowery background and all the colors came together. It was also very fun to do with my very good friend.
The most difficult shots to be taken were "Snow Photo" and "Stuck In Place." The task we were given was to use styrofoam to create the illusion of snow. We also wanted to incorporate a sun flare with my back against the sun. It was very difficult to do that because originally used a digital camera, but we switched over to a phone because we are able to easily adjust the exposure easier. Stuck In Place was taken in quarantine where my sister was extremely lazy and didn't help me whatsoever. So, in the photoshoot, I used my digital camera's timer setting and went back and forth trying to get a good shot. It took some time, but I ended up with some great pictures.
The picture I wish my group and I could've redone was "Season 2 - Depth the Field." It was a nice representation of depth in the field with the long hallways giving the isolated look. The problem was that a certain person was in the background and it was a great picture, but it also didn't look great, and I learned that you should take multiple at the same place to make editing easier.
For future students... have fun in Mr. Solis's class because taking his class is a privilege to show your creativity and showing your artistic side that you maybe interested in during your time in high school. You can also be one of his very few students who participate in taking photos for extracurriculars, such as sports, dances or other school events. So take advantage of the room you have available for creativity.
My final thoughts are that I think the advanced students curriculum should be more different and I know there would've been a magazine cover as a project, but it was cut short, though I was looking forward to that. I just think that students should have a more thorough curriculum as an advanced student.
To Mr. Solis -
Have a great summer and thank you for being an amazing teacher.
